The Chronicles of a Single Tita

Well, well, well, if it isn't me, the reigning queen of the Tita world. Yes, darlings, I'm the Single Tita, and I have stories that would make your floral dresses spin. So, buckle up and get ready for a ride down the life of your favorite unattached auntie.

It all starts with the obvious. Being the Single Tita means you become the reigning champ of the children’s table during family gatherings. On one hand, there's a certain charm in being everyone's favorite, the one who gets to cut the turkey or blow the birthday candles when nieces or nephews are too shy to do so. On the other hand, there's the responsibility of answering the dreaded question, "Why are you still single?"

Now, let me tell you, deflecting that question with a joke about focusing on my thriving cactus collection gets old, just like my mother's worries that I might end up as a 'cat lady.'

Yet, being the Single Tita has its moments. I am the undisputed master of spontaneous sleepovers. Ever tried fitting into a car full of excited kids who think a midnight McDonald's run is the greatest adventure of their lives? Well, that's my Saturday nights for you.

And let's talk about my dating life, or rather, the lack thereof. Oh, the horror of seeing a fellow Tita at the same speed dating event! Do you know how difficult it is to act surprised when you bump into each other at the snack table? You're stuck between the desire to giggle and the urge to crawl into a hole and disappear.

Despite the challenges, there's something sweet about my Single Tita life. Like when my niece says she wants to be 'cool and independent' like me when she grows up. Or when my nephew insists that I'm his favorite Tita because I always have the best snacks.

So yes, while being a Single Tita comes with its unique set of challenges, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Sure, the children's table at family dinners can be tiresome, and yes, the dating game can be a nightmare. But there’s a certain freedom, a unique joy that comes with this title. And honestly, between you and me, the other Titos and Titas are just a tad bit jealous of the single, fun-loving life we lead.

In the end, remember this: Being a Single Tita is not a sentence, it's a celebration. A toast to independence, to love for family, and to owning the best snack drawer in town! So, to all my fellow Single Titas out there, wear your title with pride and always keep that fun-loving, humorous spirit alive!
