A comedy of light in dark times

Life, my friends, can feel a lot like trying to find your glasses, even when they're perched on your nose. Talk about a wild goose chase, right? At times, we find ourselves in the middle of episodes so hefty they could rival the weight of the 'unli-rice' we ate at that Mang Inasal joint last summer. I've been there, stomping through those shadow-riddled paths where optimism seems to be perpetually stuck in EDSA traffic. But here's a public service announcement: "Stars can't strut their stuff without a backdrop of darkness. Don't let your spark get doused by a sudden 'brownout'."

Life can get a bit Picasso at times, bending and folding itself into forms more complicated than the instructions on a pancit canton packet. It's at these moments, when we're stuck in the middle of our fear-infested tar pits, we need to remember, "Dawn is like your friendly neighborhood taho vendor, always there, rain or shine." Just like our hearts continue to perform their 'rhythm gymnastics', dawn doesn't call in sick either.

Gazing up at the night sky can feel like starring at a cosmic infinity pool, an endless celestial sea where the stars seem like mere floaties. But here's a reality check: the night sky may feel as endless as your Auntie's tsismis, but it always concedes to the morning glory. The night might seem to drag on like a dramatic teleserye, but it can't keep the day in a 'bitin' cliffhanger. The dawn will always step in, bringing with it a fresh start as invigorating as your first sip of kapeng barako.

Perhaps you're feeling stuck right now, like being the last jeepney in a Cubao terminal on a Friday payday night, in the deepest dark just before sunrise. It's harder than opening a bag of chicharon quietly in church, isn't it? Yearning for the warmth of the first sunbeam can be quite an emotional balut to swallow. But emboss this in your mind:

Remember, the night gets as dark as the burnt part of your sinigang pot just before the dawn, but dawn is never a no-show.

Maybe you've lost someone special, and their absence feels like your world's suddenly on 'gray-scale' mode. I feel you. I've been in those shoes too. The loss can feel like a mountain peak hidden behind a thick fog of lumpiang shanghai steam. But remember, despite that gut-wrenching pain, your inner resilience, your inbuilt night light, can't ever be completely switched off.

You, my friend, are a cosmic superstar, flashing brilliance even when darkness threatens to dim the stage. And while the night might seem as long as a government office queue, it isn't here to stay. Dawn is just round the corner, ready to hit 'refresh' on the world's color palette. So, keep going, keep grinding, and keep shining brighter than a new gold tooth. Your dawn is coming. And when it arrives, it's going to be as spectacular and radiant as the karaoke star you are in your heart!
